Why Homeowners Call Galloway Roofing After a Storm
After a storm, the first job is stopping water from getting into your home. The second is documenting the damage properly for your insurance claim. Galloway Roofing handles both, from the first call to the finished roof.
GAF Master Elite Certified
GAF awards Master Elite status to about the top 2% of roofing contractors nationwide. It gives qualifying replacements access to GAF’s strongest warranty coverage, including the Golden Pledge warranty.
Emergency Tarping
When a storm opens up your roof, our emergency service deals with the leak first, while the repair or the insurance claim is arranged.
Written Damage Reports
Written Damage Reports Every storm inspection ends with a written report that documents each damaged area. It is the evidence your insurance adjuster will ask for.
Based on the Gulf Coast
Galloway Roofing has been based in Englewood since 2012. Our crews handle storm recovery across the region, from Tampa to Naples.
Signs Your Roof Has Storm Damage
- Missing or lifted shingles: Wind can break the seal on shingles without tearing them off. Lifted edges let wind-driven rain get under the roof.
- Cracked or slipped tiles: One broken tile exposes the underlayment beneath it to sun and water.
- Bent or loose flashing: Damaged metal around chimneys, vents and walls is one of the most common storm leak points.
- Granules in the gutters: Heavy granule loss after a storm means the shingles took impact damage.
- Stains or damp spots indoors: Ceiling stains, peeling paint or a musty attic mean water is already getting through.
- Debris on the roof: Fallen limbs and wind-blown debris can puncture the roof or trap water against it.
Our Storm Damage Services
Every storm leaves different damage behind. We match the work to what your roof needs, from a targeted repair to a full replacement.
Emergency Leak Response and Tarping
If water is coming in, call us first. Our emergency service addresses post-storm leaks to protect your ceilings, insulation and belongings until the permanent work is scheduled.
Shingle, Tile and Metal Repair
Where the damage is limited, we repair it with materials matched to your existing roof. We replace lifted or missing shingles, broken tiles, damaged flashing and torn underlayment, then check the surrounding area for damage that has not shown yet.
Florida’s building code can require an older roof to be brought up to current code when more than 25% of it is repaired or replaced within 12 months. Roofs installed under the 2007 Florida Building Code or later are exempt. We check which rule applies to your roof before recommending repair or replacement.
Full Roof Replacement After Storm Damage
When a storm finishes off an aging roof, replacement is often the better investment. We install GAF shingles, concrete tile and Tilcor and Decra stone-coated steel, which carries a 120 mph wind rating and a 50-year manufacturer warranty.
Every full replacement also carries Galloway Roofing’s workmanship warranty, with its terms set out in your estimate.

Storm Damage Roof Repair FAQs
Answers to the questions Southwest Florida homeowners ask most after a storm.
What should I do right after a storm damages my roof?
Stay safe and keep off the roof. Photograph the damage you can see from the ground and inside the house, move belongings away from any leaks and call a roofer to tarp the damaged area. Then notify your insurance company.
Will homeowners insurance pay for storm damage to my roof?
Most policies cover sudden damage from wind, hail and falling debris, minus your deductible. They generally do not cover wear from age or poor maintenance. An inspection report that separates storm damage from age-related wear makes the claim clearer.
How long do I have to file a roof damage claim in Florida?
Under current Florida law, a new or reopened homeowners claim must be reported within one year of the date of loss, and a supplemental claim within 18 months. Check your policy for its own notice requirements.
Can a storm-damaged roof be repaired, or does it need replacing?
It depends on the extent of the damage and the age of the roof. Limited damage on a sound roof can usually be repaired. If more than 25% of an older roof needs work, Florida code can require the whole roof to meet current standards. Roofs built under the 2007 Florida Building Code or later are exempt from that rule.
How do I know if my roof has hidden storm damage?
Broken shingle seals, hairline cracks in tile and loosened flashing are often invisible from the ground, and water can take weeks to show on a ceiling. A professional inspection after any major storm catches this damage while it is still a repair.
Do you offer emergency tarping?
Yes. Galloway Roofing offers emergency roofing service for leaks after a storm. Call 941-697-3737 and tell us if water is already coming in.
How often should I have my roof inspected for storm readiness?
Once a year before hurricane season starts on June 1, and again after any major storm. Regular inspections also give you a dated record of your roof’s condition if you ever need to file a claim.
